I gotta have one of these...

Wow, did I get a surprise Saturday morning. I hopped in the shower, and no hot water! I finished quick and went to investigate. Luckily, I had only blown a fuse. Thank god for that. I wasn't looking forward to replacing the water heater.

Later...

Here Kitty, Kitty...

I got this link from my cousin. The object is to shoot a cat out of a cannon as far as you can. Pretty fun, and funny. Check it out here.

CONCERNED ABOUT TOO MANY CARBS IN YOUR DIET?

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting medical studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION:

Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

New Okoboji Bulletin Board

Most of us with an interest in the Iowa Great Lakes know that there is a bulletin board on exploreokoboji.com. The only problem is, it's heavily moderated, and ALL posts are reviewed before being posted. If the moderator doesn't like what you have to say, your post never shows up on the site. Rob and I had previously talked about setting up our own where postes were not moderated up front, so long as the people posting were registered users of the board. I tossed it back and forth with Tess (who I adore), but decided not to do it for a couple reasons. Mainly because I didn't want to have to be responsible, or liable, for what someone else said about so and so, etc...

Anyhow, Rob is a doer (I'm the thinker). He went off and set up http://www.okobojibb.com, and it's a success so far. He's made me a moderator. At first just to config the site, create a logo, and set the forum topics, etc., but I'm getting into it more because I want it to be a hit. So, tell your family and friends. This thing could get huge!

It was October and the Indians on a remote reservation asked their new Chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a Chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets. When he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the winter was going to be like. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he told his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect firewood to be prepared.

But being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, "Is the coming winter going to be cold?" "It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold", the meteorologist at the weather service responded.

So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more firewood in order to be prepared. A week later he called the National Weather Service again. "Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?" "Yes", the man at the National Weather Service again replied, "it's going to be a very cold winter."

The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of firewood they could find.

Two weeks later the Chief called the National Weather Service again. "Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?"

"Absolutely," the man replied. "It's looking more and more like it is going to b e one of the coldest winters ever."

"How can you be so sure?" the Chief asked.

The weatherman replied, "The Indians are collecting firewood like crazy."
