With all the news on TV lately about the hurricanes Katrina and Rita, we shouldn’t forget that the midwest has its share of nasty weather too. Below is a link to a photo illustrating the damage caused to a friend’s home from a storm that passed through a couple of weeks ago. It really makes you cherish what you have, and reminds us not to take things for granted.

If you didn't laugh at that you need to relax alittle.

Was anyone hurt?

Hmmmm... Sorry for the late reply, but I've been busy evacuating from those stroms you mentioned. Now there is another Wilma and for me there is no evacuation this time. I'm staying behind as part of a corecadra team. A team that stays behind (unless the hurricane is cat 4 or 5) so that we may be able to clean up, provide security, and search and rescue. I think your attempt at humor is a cunning desgiuse to hide that you, BUBBA, are scared. These storms can destroy much of wich we build, can destroy peoples homes and lives, and you are scared. Which you should well be my friend, for in the end, you have a friend that these storms HAVE affected and is still affecting right now... I'm an now unsure as to when I'll be home Wilma looks to be a very, very bad storm and is predicted to hit where I live, so I'll be home soon I'm just not sure when at the moment.

This is an update. Wilma has hit and it was bad, I have been at the base for three days of cleaning up, and power has finally been restored to the all of the island. I have finally been able to return to my apartment and enjoy more than a couple of hours of time before going to sleep. I had to cancel my sisters vacation here because there is very little gas in South Florida at the moment. I do not have a date for which I will be starting my tearminal leave, which was supposed to be today, because while I was staying behind everyone else evacuated. I could not proceed with any paperwork since they took the paperwork with them. And that is my story. There are people on the island that had little food and little water, people who are cleaning there homes after surge waters engulfed the island and destroyed everything they owned. So if I do did not laugh the first time and I do not laugh the second time at the "Humor" of the intended joke then please relax a little while people suffer, its not that you or someone you know that has had to go through this.

P.S. No one laughes when a tornado hits a town in the midwest. No one laughes when a snowstorm shuts down the midwest. No one laughes when the midwest floods. Some day you may have to live through a disaster, and will you still laugh. So do not laugh when the East Coast or Gulf Coast gets hit with a hurricane.
